The important bits

Terms of Service

A plain-English guide to using AFRO — App For Rocks — on the web and on mobile. The short version: climb responsibly, respect the community, and don’t be a nuisance to the service or the places it helps you explore.

Using AFRO

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use AFRO. If you use the service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these terms.

App stores and platform terms

If you download AFRO from Apple or Google Play, your use of those stores is subject to their terms. These Terms govern your relationship with AFRO; platform terms govern your relationship with the store.

Accounts and security

  • You are responsible for your account and activity under it.
  • Keep your login credentials secure and tell us about unauthorised access.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or applicable law.

Your content

You retain ownership of content you submit. By posting content, you grant AFRO a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and distribute it as needed to operate and improve the service.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to anything you upload. For mobile contributions, the more specific, versioned AFRO Commons Agreement records the applicable Creative Commons profile and attribution.

Good rule of thumb: share what you made, what you have permission to share, and what helps the next climber have a better day.

Acceptable use

  • Do not use AFRO for illegal, harmful, or abusive activities.
  • Do not attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, or interfere with the service.
  • Do not scrape, harvest, or misuse data without permission.

Privacy and third-party services

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use information. By using AFRO, you agree to our privacy practices.

AFRO integrates with map providers, Google OAuth, and PostHog. We use PostHog for product analytics and error or exception tracking so we can understand what needs improving and diagnose reliability problems across the web and mobile apps. PostHog is not used to sell personal information or for advertising.

The legal bits

Disclaimers

AFRO is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or meet your expectations.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AFRO and its team will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of data or profits arising from your use of the service.

Termination

You may stop using AFRO at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms or if we discontinue the service.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The latest version will always be posted on this page.
